Get your phone battery-packs charged and strap on your Pokemon Go Plus because Niantic is breathing new life into their quieted (but not dead) "PokemonGo" game. According to the press release today, the update is expected to go live later on this week and is bringing in a lot of changes - including introducing over 80 new Pokemon from Generation 2 (from "Pokemon Gold/Silver").
Besides the addition of the new Pokemon (like Chikorita, Espeon and Steelix), Niantic is making plenty of other little changes to the game. First, tied to the release of new Pokemon to change, Generation 1 Pokemon may have new evolutions from Generation 2, so keep stockpiling that candy. Next, Pokemon will have different ways to behave within a wild encounter which should making catching Pokemon more interesting and, in addition to that, an item carousel has been added to the Encounter screen which will allow for faster access to berries and different types of Pokeballs. Speaking of berries, the update is introducing two new types - Nanab Berries and Pinap Berries. Nanab Berries will slow a Pokemon down, making it easier to catch. The Pinap Berry will double the amount of Candy you get on a successful capture. If you're tired of looking at the same old avatar, Niantic is also releasing new customization options for your character.
After it's explosive release last year, "PokemonGo" definitely lost a lot of it's steam. Do you think this new update will be enough to revitalize the game?
