343 Industries announced in a blog post that they will be upgrading the "Halo 3: ODST" campaign and making it free for anyone who has played "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" between launch and December 19, 2015. This news comes with a heartfelt thanks for 343 Industries themselves, as fans have shown patience and support through all of the issues that launched with the game. This campaign comes alongside a few other perks that fans should be looking forward to.
One Month of Xbox Live Gold
This free month will be delivered as early as mid-January 2015. It will either be added directly to your Xbox Live account, or a message will be sent containing a redeemable token through the Xbox One message center.
In-Game Nameplate and Avatar
This will not be available to anyone other than those who played "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" during its launch window, as a thank you. These will be delivered before 2015 via a content update.
"Halo 3: ODST" Campaign
The original Xbox 360 campaign will be upgraded to be able to run at 1080p and 60 FPS. 343 Industries says players can expect to see this in Spring 2015, and it will be delivered through a free download token. It has no plans to include to Firefight mode.
Remastered "Halo 2" 'Relic' Map
This revamped version will be available in Spring 2015 as part of a free update. Any player will get access to this, even if they did not play "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" during its launch window.
These changes bring nothing but good news to all fans of the franchise, and hopefully 343 Industries will continue to listen to its fans going forward. The full blog post with all of the details can be found here.
