"40 Winks," a defunct game slated for the N64 in the '90's, is hitting shelves.
GT Interactive, a development company from 1993, commissioned the game "40 Winks" to Eurocom back in 1998. However, because of financial strain, the company was sold to Infogrames, which cancelled other projects in development, including the N6 port of "40 Winks." The game did see the light of day on the original PlayStation console before being decommissioned.
Piko Interactive, a company out of San Antonio that focuses on retro gaming specifically, took on the project 17 years later in the form of a Kickstarter project. The updated, funded version of the game offers new features to the platform including a co-op mode, six different levels, mini-games, and the ability to transform between characters. They succeeded in their Kickstarter funding, hitting more than five times their original goal. The deadline was originally March 14 of this year, but they have secured over $100,000 in pledge money from users.
"40 Winks" ships to users approximately in September later this year. Congratulations backers on bringing a 20 year old console a new title.
