Publisher Activision confirmed a new "Tony Hawk" game is in the works.
Speaking on his Sirius XM radio show, Demolition Radio, Tony Hawk revealed that he's working on a new "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater" instalment. The title was confirmed in a statement to IGN saying, "Activision can confirm that they have something in the works with Tony Hawk, more info is coming soon."
The "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater" series was instrumental in bringing skateboarding into the videogames fold. Since it first landed on the scene in 1999 however, it has seen a marked decline in both sales and critical reception. The latest instalment in the series was "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD," which was actually an HD remake of the original, meaning the last original title was 2010's "Shred," a mediocre attempt to revive the series' motion controlled skateboard peripheral.
In stereotypical skater fashion, Tony Hawk's mention of actual details were limited except to say "it's pretty cool." So details are scarce, but stay tuned to Player Theory as the story develops.
