Nintendo sent an email to NintendoLife telling them that on Feb. 10 there will be an update for "Super Smash Bros." for 3DS. This update will allow amiibos to be used with the 3DS game.
For the New 3DS, the amiibo can scan right onto the screen. The older 3DS handhelds, however, will need a peripheral for the amiibos to work. Those peripherals will be released at a later date. The New 3DS will launch on Feb. 13 alongside "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D" and "Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate."
