Today, Blizzard revealed the newest addition to the cast of fantastic characters in it's hit new shooter "Overwatch" - Ana Amari.
As one would expect from her apparent weapon of choice, Ana is a sniper-character but rather than just dealing damage, her rifle has two types of attack - a shot that deals ongoing damage to enemies or a shot that will heal her allies.
Besides those primary modes of fire, her other abilities include a biotic grenade that heals friendlies and damages enemies and a poisoned dart that can knock a target out for a short time - effectively cancelling ultimates or just stopping that annoying Tracer that's been flanking you.
Her ultimate ability "Nano Boost." provides a short-term enhancement to an ally's damage, speed and health - an ult which seems like it'll come in handy when a team is trying to push and take a stubborn point.
As far as her backstory goes, Ana Amari is one of the Overwatch team's founding members and served as Strike Commander Morrison's second-in-command. She stayed in active duty well into her fifties when she was apparently killed by Widowmaker during a mission gone bad. Obviously not dead (though now missing an eye), Ana allowed everyone to think she was gone and removed herself from the world's conflicts....until now.
If the last name didn't give it away, Ana is also Pharah's mother...so that should be an interesting reunion.
Ana is playable on the Overwatch Public Test Realm, starting today with more details on the character and her eventually public release coming soon.
