The Boston Police Department announced on Aug 23, 2015 that two men were arrested for attempting to enter the Pokemon World Championships while illegally carrying guns and other ammunition in their vehicle.
Kevin Norton, 18, and James Stumbo, 27, both traveled from Iowa to Massachusetts after making several violent threats online against the attendees of the Pokemon World Championships. Security personnel for Hynes Convention Center, where the world championships were held, caught wind of Norton and Stumbo's online postings and immediately notified the members of Boston Regional Intelligence Center on Aug 20, 2015. Boston detectives also received information that the suspects "were in possession of several firearms in their vehicle"; suspects were later found unable to produce a license to carry firearms. The suspects were released after being questioned but their vehicle was seized.
A search warrant was enforced the next day to search the suspects' car, where the authorities found a shotgun, an AR-15 rifle, several ammunition, and a hunting knife. An arrest warrant was immediately issued for the pair, and was later arrested at a Saugus, M.A. hotel. Norton and Stumbo are now facing several firearm related charges.
