Destiny will launch on Sept. 9, just one week from now. In order to get people interested in the different races, planets, and conflicts, Bungie launched Destiny Planet View in cooperation with Google Maps, to show off some of the history.
This might be one of the coolest teasers of a video game ever; Bungie has definitely worked on building races and conflicts that makes sense, even if we feel the bravado Earth voice has been done a thousand times, especially in sci-fi movies.
The amount of content without the Destiny Planet View is enough to get a feel of the different races on Venus, Mars, and The Moon. Players can go on a Street View style tour around each planet, watching video, checking photos, and hearing the narrator talk about Earth and the different aliens.
One of the main themes of "Destiny" is the ancient alien powers and Earth's long lost glory days. On Mars, remnants of the Golden Age still haunt the land, showing how things use to be and how things are now, with open conflict between multiple races.
The Vex are one of the dominant races on Venus, The Cabal on Mars, and The Hive on the Moon. Inside each planet, battles rage on. We expect "Destiny" to offer players extensive missions within each planet, along with possible quests to rebuild humanity.
It is worth checking out the Planet View if you like the look of "Destiny." There is plenty of information to sink into, even though there is no gameplay to show - apart from the minute trailer videos - showing any type of alien.
