Focus Home Interactive revealed a new trailer for their upcoming "Call of Cthulhu" video game. It is entitled "Depths of Madness" and immediately dives into the game - giving you glimpses of setting, some characters and a taste of the story.
A Private Detective, Edward Pierce is a mission to find the truth behind the death of an acclaimed artist and her family on a backwater island. Pierce is used to trusting his instincts, but with whale mutilations and disappearing bodies, this is only the beginning as reality becomes skewed. As your investigation leads you closer to the sphere of influence of the Great Dreamer, you will start to doubt everything you see. You will have to find balance between your own sanity, and your determination in finding out what lurks in the shadows - as they say that madness is the only way that can bring you to the truth.
From Youtube Summary
This "Call of Cthulhu" game being developed by Cyanide Studios is based on the popular tabletop system set in the Lovecraft universe which pits mortal investigators against ancient gods and unimaginable monsters. This trailer certainly hits all the right horror notes and the dangers seem just as much psychological as they are physical - which is important in the "Call of Cthulhu" system as sanity is just as important to your character as their health. While this definitely seems interesting, especially to fans of the mythos, it is hard to pass judgement on this game without seeing actual gameplay first - which I'm hoping will be revealed to us soon.
"Call of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game" does not have a set release date, but is estimated to in stores by the end of this year. It will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
