Koji Igarashi, the producer for the "Castlevania" series before quitting Konami, has revealed "Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night," the spiritual successor to his staple series, through Kickstarter.
Right now, details for the story of "Bloodstained" are scant, but events follow Miriam, orphan of an Alchemist with an Alchemist's curse, Gebel, the host for a similar curse that summons demons, and Johannes, an Alchemist (not the one that brought Miriam up). The game will be extremely reminiscent of "Castlevania" games prior, with RPG and side-scrolling platformer gameplay.
As of this writing, "Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night" has been successfully funded and will be released on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One with options for a digital or physical copy of the game. A Nintendo version is also in talks if there is enough funding. One of the last posted stretch goals (as of this writing) happens to be in the form of having famous voice actor David Hayter, the original voice of Solid Snake from another Konami game series "Metal Gear," voice Gebel.
"Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night" joins fellow spiritual successors "Yooka-Laylee," "Mighty No. 9," "NightCry," and more that have been successfully funded by the creators who wanted to make more games with similar themes and gameplay.
