2K Games announced earlier today "Civilization: Beyond Earth" arrives Oct. 24. The Friday release gives "Civilization" fans worldwide a full weekend to relish in the new expansion into outer space, re-living the Alpha Centauri-style 4X turn-based strategy game.
The futuristic title brings players away from Earth for the first time in "Civilization," moving away from the well known leaders of the old world and into a grim future, where players must fight against the other forces and aliens trying to defeat expansion. "CiviliZation: Beyond Earth" brings new tech trees, exploration, and enemies.
"Civilization: Beyond Earth" is priced at $49.99 for PC at launch. Customers who pre-order receive the Exoplanets Map Pack bonus filled with six new maps based on real-life exo-planets. The maps are called Kepler 186f, Rigil Khantoris Bb, Tau Ceti d, Mu Arae f, 82 Eridani e, and Eta Vulpeculae b.
We expect to see Firaxis Games port this over to Mac OS at some point in the near future, but there's still no word on if this will make it to consoles. The previous "Civilization" games have not made it over. The 4X strategy title might not be best suited for console, even if they just recently ported "Civilization 2" to mobile devices.
