In celebration of "Star Wars" and May 4th (May the 4th be with you), EA announced that they will be making a new "Star Wars" game with Respawn Entertainment at the helm.
While the announcement says that there are several studios working on various titles for "Star Wars," the one they announced is a 3rd person action game. Patrick Söderlund, Executive Vice President of EA Studios, stated:
Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Vince Zampella and his group. Their obsession with making games that feel amazing has helped make Titanfall one of the most successful new game launches of this generation. And now, with a new team led by Stig Asmussen, we get to see what they can do when you combine that great attention to gameplay with the power of Star Wars. Patrick Söderlund,
What this title could be isn't known. However, this unnamed "Star Wars" title could be the cancelled "Star Wars 1313" game. We speculate that Disney may have been trying to find a suitable team to develop the game, seeing they bought the rights for all things "Star Wars" related from George Lucas and dissolved the LucasArts Studio. Disney and EA made a deal that EA will have the licensing rights to develop "Star Wars" games.
