Gfinity and Gamer Network partnered together to bring the world of eSports to the UK’s next big gaming convention.
Thanks to both teams, attendees can meet pro-gamers and watch them compete in a series of tournaments set up as a showcase for the event.
The Gfinity stand plans to give the 80,000+ EGX attendees a look into the world of eSports, affording them a chance to meet a select few pro-gamers, participate in mini-tournaments and get tips on breaking into the world of pro gaming.
Gamer Network is one of the world largest publishers of game related content, running websites such as Eurogamer.net, Modojo, and GameIndustry International. Gamer Network also produces live public events and trade shows including EGX London (formerly Eurogamer Expo), EGX Rezzed and GameHorizon, the games industry conference.
This partnership with Gfinity was created to help push eSports within the UK to a professional level, to raise awareness for eSports, and to provide an arena for games to showcase their talent. The move is seen as the next step for UK gaming. Having been founded in early 2013, Gfinity immediately planned to deliver an experience unlike any that had been seen in European eSports. EGX is a huge leap to delivering on that.
We were impressed by the energy and enthusiasm that Gfinity bring to eSports. We’re excited by the prospect of working with them to provide a fantastic competitive gaming experience to our audience. David Lilley, MD of Gamer Events
The two titles announced so far as having a place in the Gfinity stand are "League of Legends" and "FIFA 15."
"League of Legends" fans will get to be immersed in the full eSports experience across all four days, taking part in mini competitions against both friend and foe with a host of prices available for the winners. Who knows, this may also lead to a call up to the 'Diamond Leagues."
Gfinity will highlight "FIFA 15," due for release on the same week as the event, using a four-person tournament with four of the UK’s biggest "FIFA" You-Tubers in a one-off exhibition match.
We are going to provide some exciting and entertaining competition with the gaming community – everyone who visits EGX can come to our stand, game like a pro and talk to us about getting into eSports. We are excited to be a partner of this great event and look forward to helping others get involved/ Martin Wyatt, Head of Content & Partner Relations at Gfinity
