What a day at "EVO 2014!" We started bright and early at 8 A.M. PDT with "Pools" of "Ultra Street Fighter IV," "Super Smash Brother's Melee," and "Injustice." "Tekken Tag 2" also began and ended today. "Pools" for "USFIV" consisted of 2,000 players, with two players coming out of each pool, one on winners and one on losers. Players came from 46 different countries around the world to compete, and spectator passes were sold out with the main stage holding 8,000 people.
"Ultra Street Fighter IV"
As the night raged on "USFIV" took the entire day on most streams. A trend began to arise that the "Star Players" were losing. Daigo, PRBalrog, Infiltration, and Chris G were all eliminated "Off Stream." It was upset after upset, and "Twitter" rumors didn't help things. Commentators Ultradavid and James Chen continued reporting lies about eliminations. Quickly learning they couldn't trust the Internet, they then stopped feeding the trolls. "USFIV" went from 2,000 players to the top eight:
