This weekend after a much hyped development, the "Evolve" alpha is coming to all current-gen platforms as Turtle Rock Studios and 2K Games prepare for its Feb. 2014 launch.
Players will get to try out the classes: a trapper, a support, a medic, and the assault class. Each contains a variety of different characters that bring their own skills and abilities creating a multitude of play styles for players to try out. Currently, eight hunters have been announced with the promise of more hunters and creatures to arrive during official launch.
“Evolve” is a hunters game where four players go head to head with a giant alien monster controlled by the mysterious fifth player ... or just a buddy who wants to kill you. If you’re the monster, it’s up to you to hunt the other players and the local wildlife. You will "evolve" and progress your creature so that it becomes stronger, faster, and ultimately more deadly. As the hunters … well it’s pretty simple: find the creature and shoot it dead.
The game is set on the planet of Shear, a new world recently colonized by Humans who hadn’t quite realized there was a host of horrifying monsters who don’t take kindly to strangers. You battle across a variety of 12 maps including a sprawling Jungle, Cavernous Caves, and a Dam in an effort to survive. You play as either the Goliath" and the Kraken (the two currently announced monsters) or as one of four hunters trying to find and stop them.
