Speaking with PC Gamer, Coalition's technical director Mike Rayner confirmed that "Gears of War 4" will have split screen for both the Xbox One and PC.
A little while back, 343 Industries stated they couldn't get "Halo 5: Guardians" to support split screen and keep the resolution at its highest while only on the Xbox One. Rayner stated that the process to keeping both the Xbox One and PC working while supporting split-screen was a "labor of love."
From a development standpoint, it is quite difficult to support. We have to deal with multiple inputs, we have to deal with focus, we have to deal with UI placement.
While Xbox One and PC users can't play player-versus-player matches, they can still play co-operative matches against AI, Horde Mode, the campaign, and LAN/private matches.
"Gears of War 4" is set to release on October 11, 2016 for PC (Windows 10) and Xbox One.
