At the Playstation conference, we got a good taste of what to expect from the next game in the God of War series - the game simply titled: "God of War." Check it out below:
We knew from past announcements that Kratos was going to be venturing north and his next set of foes were to be pulled from Norse mythology, but this trailer cracks open some of the story and clues us in on what else we can expect. Obviously, the biggest difference between this game and others in the series is the addition of his son, Atreus, tagging along and watching as his father violently murders literally everything. What I'm most curious about is whether Atreus will only come into play during scripted, cinematic moments or if he'll be like Ellie in "The Last of Us," actively working to help the player (by distracting enemies, tossing over helpful items etc) but not doing enough to turn the tide of battle. Simply having his son around promises to make "God of War" one of the more emotional entries into the series.
And did you get a look at Jörmungandr? That's a big snake.
"God of War" is set for release sometime in 2018 (no set date yet) and will be available on the Playstation 4.
