When someone mentions "GoldenEye," the first thing that comes to mind is not the James Bond film starring Pierce Brosnan. The first thing that comes to my mind is connecting four controllers to the N64 and playing with all my brothers. It's memories of having to beat The Dam in less than 2:40 so I could unlock paintball mode so my parents would think the game was less violent (it was my responsibility as the oldest brother). It's countless hours hiding in the bathroom in the Facility with remote mines in every stall...waiting for someone to come looking for me.
It's memories of always picking Oddjob because I was really cheap like that.
For 10 years, "GoldenEye: Source" has been in development - taking everything that made "Goldeneye" wonderful and converting it to the Source engine (same engine that gave us "Half-Life") where it looks fantastic, sounds great and plays just like I remember it playing. Today, "Goldeneye: Source 5.0" was released, along with with trailer that will drag you off into nostalgia-land.
You can download "Goldeneye: Source" here.
Welcome to 2016, "Goldeneye 64."
