"Cosmic Kitty Pop!" developer Happy Badger Studio announced their latest project: "SmuggleCraft".
This game is a modern take on the days of prohibition in the United States. You take on the role of a hovercraft driver who smuggles "contraband" (drugs and guns?) throughout the world of Dirah. While you spend most of your time running from the law, you will also encounter many of the world's residents and experience their stories along the way.
While it is not clear yet whether this is going to be more of a racing simulation or an open world experience, the team behind this project has proven themselves to be creative and determined; and this should be no exception.
"SmuggleCraft" is slated for a Spring 2016 release on PS4, PC, Mac, and Linux. You can visit their website for more information, and vote for them on Steam Greenlight.
“SmuggleCraft” — a Fast-Paced Quest-Driven Hovercraft Game
April 9, 2015 – St. Louis, MO – Happy Badger Studio has announced their next game, “SmuggleCraft,” to be released on PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, PC, Mac, and Linux in Spring 2016.
SmuggleCraft is a quest-based hovercraft game in which players smuggle contraband, improve their hovercraft, and run from the authorities as they discover the incredible stories of the inhabitants of the unforgiving and troubled world Dirah. The game features randomly generated tracks, fully upgradeable hovercrafts with hundreds of combinations, quest-based missions complete with illegal contraband and high-speed chases, and a branching story with alternate endings that change based on player choice.
“We love driving games, so we wanted to provide a fresh perspective in the genre and create a more compelling experience than simply cruising in circles,” says Ben Triola, the game’s designer. “SmuggleCraft’s branching narrative offers a high level of player autonomy, paired with unpredictable tracks that make driving more exciting.”
The game’s visual design is defined by its stylized yet simple 3D environments, with 2D interface elements that merge classic sci-fi with art deco. The game’s original soundtrack by composer Bravendary is equally unique, inspired by both classical music and 80s synth pop.
SmuggleCraft is expected to release in Spring 2016. To see screenshots, videos, and read more about the game, visit http://smugglecraft.com
