In a recent interview at Famitus (in Japanese), Tetsuya Nomura announced "Kingdom Hearts III" will have a new game engine, Epic Games' Unreal 4 engine.
The previous in-game engine, Luminous Engine, has been causing some rendering issues for the game. Unreal 4 should fix whatever is causing the problems.
"Kingdom Hearts III's" release date is still unknown and will coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The next "Kingdom Hearts" game will be "Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix," which will release for the PlayStation 3 on Dec. 2 for North America, Dec. 4 for Australia, and Dec. 5 for Europe. Japan has already received their copies on Oct. 2.
