Square Enix announced that "Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ" is coming to iOS and Android devices on April 7, 2016 in North America. No word yet on the European release date.
Along with the announcement, Square released an interview with series director Tetsuya Nomura with what to expect out of "Unchained," in terms of how this game connects to "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue." Some of these connections include "foreshadows" to the Dream Eaters in the form of "Dream Drop Distance" and giving the Foretellers their own perspective in terms of story ("Unchained" is from the players' point of view). Check out the whole interview here.
With "Unchained" coming out this week, "Kingdom Hearts 2.8's" release date is still in the air, though it's slated for this year with "Kingdom Hearts III" most likely coming out in 2017 at the earliest. "2.8" will contain "Dream Drop Distance" remastered for the PlayStation 4, "Back Cover," which will be the story of the Foretellers, and "0.2: Birth by Sleep–A Fragmentary Passage," a completely new bit of gameplay following Aqua right after the events of "Birth By Sleep." The gameplay will use "KHIII's" engine to showcase what the future game will be capable of.
