Announced today, Platinum Games will be developing a video game based on the "Legend of Korra," the second story from the popular "Avatar" universe from Nickelodeon. While details are scarce, based on the screenshots and announcement video that were released, it can be deduced that the player will take control of Korra and use her different bending techniques to defeat chi-blockers, mecha-tanks, and participate in Pro-Bending sport games.
Personally, I would not mind a game dedicated just to the pro-bending sport as seen in the series.
It is sort of a awesome surprise that Platinum Games would be tapped to develop what an outsider to the series would see as a children's cartoon. Platinum Games is responsible for mature titles such as "Bayonetta" and "Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance" - both violent, fast and stylized games. That kind of style will likely suit an "Avatar" game quite well, allowing the player to see and utilize the different martial art techniques required for Benders to pull off their different elemental techniques.
The story will cover what occured between the end of Book 2:Spirits and Book 3:Change of the series. Legend of Korra: Book 3 premieres Friday, June 27th on Nickelodeon.
"The Legend of Korra" game is due out in Fall 2014 and will be available adigitally on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
