Microsoft released a dashboard update to the Xbox 360, making minor cosmetic changes and a significant adjustment to the commerce system. The update is staggering releases across all 41 regions globally.
The Aug. 26 update made some minor changes to the dashboard appearance. In anticipation of the Xbox One's release this fall, Microsoft made adjustments to some of the dialog boxes and layout to closer match the new console. MS has also included the usual performance updates, hoping to provide for a smoother dashboard experience.
The big story here, however, is the shift from Microsoft Points to local currencies. Microsoft converted users' point balance to their local currencies at equal or greater values. This balance will be deposited into users' Microsoft account as credit, similar to the PlayStation Store's "Wallet" system. Users will be notified when the updates are available in their region, and following the download, will be guided through the currency conversion process relating to their respective location.
