The critically acclaimed “Thomas Was Alone," a hit that thrust Mike Bithell into the spotlight has a successor sneaking up on it. Originally announced last year “Volume” will be on show at EGX 2014 and creator Mike Bithell will be there to discuss his work
"Volume" does not fall short of what “Thomas Was Alone” delivered, the graphics are beautiful and the storytelling is rich. YouTuber and filmmaker Charlie McDonnell will have the lead role as Locksley, while Danny Wallace returns after his BAFTA award-winning performance in “Thomas Was Alone” to provide the voice of the AI that will guide you through the game.
The Silent (Kind of) Robin Hood
The lead character, Locksley is no killer. He relies on stealth to commit his crimes. He distracts, he avoids, and he sneaks. Controlling your noise level is a key mechanic within the game. If Locksley is heard, it's because he wanted to be. Drawing enemies away with sounds, he frees up areas and space for him to silently get to the targets he wants. Locksley’s world is a virtual one; he’ll show the world how to steal from the rich and give to the world, one pixel at a time. This is part of the reason why the game's graphics appear so vibrant. The neon colors and the sleek design go a long way to support that this title is already a standout in its design and appearance.
The full release will feature around 100 levels pitting the players and Locksley, but everyone will also be provided access to the level design tools used by the team who worked on the title. As a result, the community will quickly be able to become a significant part of this title, as they will be able to remix in game environments or create their own to share with the world.
"Volume" is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PS Vita, PC, and Mac in 2015.
