Early yesterday morning, "Minecraft" creator Notch tweeted to celebrate "Minecraft" selling 15 million copies on PC.
"The original Minecraft has sold 15 million copies! Time to celebrate!" - Notch
"Minecraft" is an addictive first person sandbox game where you build and craft to survive. Players can choose to play in Survival Mode, which has elements of an RPG, or in Creative Mode, which allows them to build as they please. The success of this game is unprecedented considering its release on a variety of platforms. The iOS pocket version of "Minecraft" has sold over 21 million copies, and the Xbox 360 version has surpassed 12 million sales. PlayStation 3 has seen the most recent version and has already sold over one million copies.
As 4JStudios continues to update the console versions of the game, the replay value seems endless. There are countless mods, texture packs, and updates released periodically for each platform by Mojang. The PC version will more than likely continue to sell. Here's to the next million copies!
