Board game collectors and fans of Hyrule, rejoice! USAopoly recently announced the release date for their “Legend of Zelda” version of “Monopoly," and it looks pretty sweet.
The box is decked out in the iconic green and gold. *insert chest opening sound* Inside, you'll find Empty Bottles and Treasure Chests (Chance and Community Chest cards) along with such classic locations (now properties) as the Clock Tower, Hyrule Castle, and even the Temple of Time. Want to start charging more Rupees for rent? Plant some Deku sprouts (Houses) and then upgrade them to Deku trees (Hotels)!
Other elements of the game include the railroads being modes of transportation in the “Legend of Zelda” series such as Link's horse Epona as well as the utilities being converted into the Bomb Shop and the Potion Shop. Special player tokens such as the Triforce and the Hylian shield replace old favorites like the top hat and the race car. The GameStop exclusive version will include the Ocarina of Time token as well as six Power Cards for added gameplay.
This isn't the first time elements of the popular franchise have graced a Monopoly board. “Legend of Zelda” was also included in “Monopoly: Nintendo Collector's Edition” back in 2010.
“Monopoly: Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition” is currently available for pre-order and will be released Sept. 15. GameStop will offer their exclusive version for $39.99 USD.
