Inside Games revealed (as reported by Gematsu) a new line of amiibo for the "Monster Hunter" series with the Japanese release date for "Monster Hunter Stories."
The three figures include One-Eyed Rathalos, one for the male and female protagonist, and Nabiru, with a second set planned to release later this Winter 2016. The amiibo will unlock a special monsters in-game called Otomon. For those with "Monster Hunter Generations" save data on the 3DS, they'll get unlockable goodies, such as costumes and weapons.
"Monster Hunter Stories" will release in Japan on October 8, 2016, though no word on the game getting released outside of Japan.
