"Mordheim: City Of The Damned," based on Games Workshop's tabletop game of the same name, has arrived on steam as part of Rogue Factors early access program.
A twin tailed comet blazed above the lands of the empire and even before it found its destination it was seen as an ill omen. Unfortunately for the folk of Mordheim, this was to be a much more grim reality; a thunderous crash and the city was nearly reduced to mere rubble. Their trouble wasn’t to end their as various war bands charged headlong into the city leading to lethal and bloody skirmishes turning almost every area into a battlefield safe for none. Glory, fortune, and wyrdstone, the valuable remnants of the comet, are all up for grabs and it will be by tooth, claw, sword, and bullet that they are claimed.
Rogue Factor bring a turn based, tactical RPG set in the fallen city of Mordheim located in the heart of the "Warhammer" world to Steam and give players the chance to be the first to jump into the cursed city and battle across its blasted landscape and fight to be the dominant war band.
With the final release of the game Rogue Factor will have four complete factions available to choose from: The religious "Sisters of Sigmar," the treacherous and lethal "Skaven," the warped and chaotic "Possessed" with the Human Mercenaries of the Empire filling the final spot. With your war band you will have the complete freedom to customize, develop and gear up how you choose allowing you to dictate how you want to play and how you will defeat those who stand in your way. Each success, each victory and each piece of gold recovered will turn your humble fighters into a true force to be feared within the streets of “Mordheim: City Of the Damned”. As your progress through both the single player campaign and online multiplayer battles your war band will gain experience which will further develop your units skills and abilities allowing you to specialize your war band how you see fit. Don’t get to attached though because all it takes is a stray bullet or a misstep and you’ll be hiring and teaching a new recruit instead.
A dead unit is lost forever. This is the most potent feature that will follow you through every adventure in the cursed city, people will get hurt. Units will lose fights and at the end of a game. It's possible they will also lose a limb or, at worst, never see another day. That is what Rogue Factor have emphasized when developing this title, you need to think ahead and plan your battles rather than charging headlong into your enemies, although with some of the larger units, this is a perfectly acceptable option. Strategy is definitely your closest and most valuable ally and as you search for fame and glory and that precious wyrdstone remember to keep one eye open as your enemy may already be waiting in ambush.
The war bands that have arrived with the early access are the human mercenaries and a force of Skaven from Clan Eshin. Two procedural maps will be available to fight on in addition to two unique deathmatch mode maps. With the full release of the game you’ll be able to visit the four corners of the City of the Damned with your warband to complete multiple missions in the solo campaign or challenge other players in multiplayer battlefields, each promising to be unique in design.
This is Rogue Factors first title under development, so they will be keen to make an impression with what could be an engaging and exciting entry into tactical RPGs
