Due to the sheer size of the game (billions upon billions of possible planets), finding an actual player, let alone a friend, would be rather rare. Hello Games sees the game more as a single-player experience, but there is multiplayer elements as well.
After several delays, "No Man's Sky" is set to release on PlayStation 4 first on August 9, 2016 in North America, August 10 for Europe, and worldwide/on PC on August 12.
