It has been way too long since we've had a Crackdown game - coming on 7 years now. That's way too long to be without protecting a city as a superpowered police officer with questionable control skills. At the Microsoft E3 conference today, however, "Crackdown 3" was introduced with an amazing trailer. I thought the next time I would see Terry Crews in a video game, it would be as Doomfist in "Overwatch," but I have to say, seeing him appear in the trailer a Crackdown title is just so fitting. Check out the Crews cameo and the rest of this epic E3 trailer below:
If you've never played any of the Crackdown games before, the premise is fairly simple. The city is overrun by powerful gangs and criminal families, and in order to combat that, a new kind of police are trained with state-of-the-art equipment, effectively making them superheroes. You can jump from building to building, throw cars and have access to incredibly powerful weaponry, all in the name of bringing a city back to order.
One of the things that a lot of fans are worried about was the lack of destruction see in this trailer. At the 2015 Gamescom, there was a bit of a tech demo showcasing the destruction physics that were to be used in "Crackdown 3" (it's worth the watch), that generated a lot of hype for this title. Well, players are still going to be able to domino skyscrapers and destroy things like never before...but in the multiplayer mode. It seems that in the single-player campaign, a lot of the environment's destructibility was limited so the story wouldn't be broken by a fallen building or made too easy...by knocking over buildings. And, that seems to be a fair decision.
More news on "Crackdown 3's" multiplayer is expected soon.
"Crackdown 3" is set for release on November 7th on the Xbox One and Xbox One X.
