In an interview with The Financial Times (via MVC UK), Sony's Andrew House confirmed that the PlayStation 4.5, seemingly titled PlayStation Neo, is a real thing.
It is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4. We will be selling both [versions] through the life cycle.
The consumer is attuned to a different cadence of innovation in technology thanks in great part for the upgrades cadence on mobile phones or PCs. Andrew House
It's said that the new iteration will cost more than the current model of PlayStation 4s, but Sony isn't going to sell at a loss. Additionally, the PlayStation Neo won't be at E3 2016. Whether the device isn't quite ready to show off completely or Sony has enough planned to show off during the conference isn't known, as to when the PlayStation Neo is officially releasing to the public. While the Nintendo NX won't be at E3 as well, the rumored Xbox Scorpio might be shown off, if that rumor is true.
