It has been confirmed by Sony that PlayStation VR will be priced at $399 / CAD $549 / €399 / £349 / 44,980 yen in North America, Europe, and Asia sometime in October.
It should be noted that the PlayStation Camera and PlayStation Move controllers are needed to use the system (how they are needed to work isn't known at this time), and they are sold separately.
There are over 230 developers supporting PlayStation VR with over 50 games at launch, with a surprise reveal of a "Star Wars Battlefront" experience exclusive to PS VR made by EA, DICE, and LucasFilm.
For those wanting a price comparison for competing hardware, PlayStation VR (standing price alone) is $399, whereas the Oculus Rift is $599, and the Vive is $799. PlayStation VR requires a PlayStation 4, PlayStation Camera, and PlayStation Move controllers, which may set you at roughly about $1000 (not including games and taxes). Meanwhile, the Vive and Rift need a powerful high-end PC, which are expenses of their own that can go up to $1500.
