Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo since 2002, has sadly passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth.
Iwata joined Nintendo in 2000 as the head of the corporate planning division. He took over as president when Hiroshi Yamauchi stepped down on May 31, 2002. Some of his work consists of "Balloon Fight," EarthBound," and the "Kirby" series.
In 2014, problems with his bile duct caused Iwata to take time from his job and recover.
We will greatly miss Mr. Iwata's contributions to the video game industry and our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones, family, and friends.
