At the latest "E3," we saw footage of a lot of games. Some had gameplay, while others did not. One of the games we saw very little of was "Quantum Break," an exclusive "Xbox One" title. That has all changed now. At the latest "Gamescom" event, we got to see a short demo of actual gameplay.
Many third person shooters have already done the "bullet time" effect that is starting to get worn out, but "Quantum Break" looks to be shaking up the formula. From what we see in the demo, your time powers have all kinds of uses during combat. When you're spotted, you can super speed yourself and run to a different spot, losing your enemies. This is showcased really well in the demo as the main character zips from one spot to the next, completely confusing his opponents.
Another really cool use of the power is to put your enemy in a frozen time pocket. This allows you to fire multiple rounds into that pocket that froze as well. Once you unfreeze that area, all the bullets collapse on the target for a brutal kill. Near the end of the demo, the protagonist uses all these powers together, and it looks amazing. You feel like you truly have power over time and a real advantage over your opponents.
The game is looking amazing, and we are really excited to see the full product. Check out the gameplay demo below, and see for yourself. Then stay right here at Player Theory for more time-controlling action.
