Sega revealed during San Diego Comic Con "Sonic Mania" in celebration of Sonic's 25th anniversary.
Sega is partnering Christian Whitehead, Headcannon, and PagodaWest Games to bring to you new spins on classic "Sonic the Hedgehog." Expect to see re-imagined levels such as Green Hill Zone in new popping pixel art along with new zones. There's going to be three playable characters- Sonic, Miles "Tails" Prowler, and Knuckles the Echidna. A new ability was shown off- the Drop Dash. It looks like Sonic can hit the ground from a jump or height and immediately speed ahead as if he was on a dash panel.
"Sonic Mania" is expected to release in Spring 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
