Greater Than Games announced the newest expansion for the game "Wrath of the Cosmos." With "Wrath of the Cosmos," Greater Than Games brings the heroes of their game forth to defend the world against threats from beyond the galaxy. The initial box contains two heroes, four new villains, and two new environments.
"Sentinels of the Multiverse" by Greater Than Games is a go-to classic at my gaming table. In it, players choose a unique superhero and then work together as a team to take down a supervillian all in a dangerous environment that can help or hurt (mostly hurt) the superhero team. Everyone has favorites that they play, and everyone remembers that one time a supervillian dominated the field and had leave the table in disgrace - but never for long!
I've purchased just about every expansion or promo card that has come out for "Sentinels of the Multiverse" - each box adding more heroes decks to choose from, villain decks to fight, and environment decks to to wade through and gives the game another kick of unpredictable excitement.
During the pre-order period, as people order the game, a counter ticks up. When the counter reaches certain points, it unlocks new promo cards and decks that'll become a part of the "Wrath of the Cosmos" package! As of this article, 2,600 people have pre-ordered this expansion and that has unlocked some cool new cards.
The first to be unlocked was the Prime Warden character cards. You use these instead of the base set that the core game comes with - providing new powers and available tactics for players to learn to use. The Prime Wardens were a team of heroes that united together to take down Akash'Bhuta, a spirit of chaos and destruction. The Prime Warden characters seem focused on self-sacrifice and boosting others to get a job done fast, no matter the consequences.
The next promo-unlock was a new environment: Omnitron IV. If you've been playing the game from the core set, you may recognize the first Omnitron as a robot villain. The second time, he arrived to the Sentinels from the future as Omnitron X, only this time, he hailed as a hero. According to the story, after being defeated, torn apart, forged into a sword ,and then lost, Omnitron had just enough sentience left to hide and seek out resources. It began building itself into a massive assembly plant, still missing the pieces that made it whole and powerful but also hoping to produce enough technology and drones to counter that loss (and maybe find what it had lost. Omnitron IV is a self-aware factory that will likely focus on pumping out a robot army to deal with anyone that enters the facility.
Third to be unlocked was the Wager Master - a new villain that was created at the start of the Universe because of a wager, a wager that nothing would happen. The Wager Master is an impossibly old extra-dimensional being that thrives on impossibilities and playing with the rules of reality. He pops in from time to time, plays games with the champions of a world, and when they inevitably lose the game, he unleashes chaos and destruction.
Most recently unlocked was a brand-new hero in the form of Guise. Guise was created as a side effect from one of the Sentinels' battles with the Wager Master. Particles of improbability mushed together with his destroyed, organic matter, which against all odds, transformed him into a superhero. Its really hard to know exactly what role Guise will fill in the team, but all it takes is one look at him to know that the inspiration for him was Deadpool from the Marvel comic books. He seems silly and dangerous and has already started breaking the fourth wall in his own announcement. He certainly promises to be an interesting addition to the game.
"Wrath of the Cosmos" is due to be shipped out by December. If you're interested in pre-ordering, hit up the official Greater Than Games store. There is another promo that is due to be unlocked when the counter hits 3,000, as well. Will Greater Than Games add more once that goal is reached? At the time this article was written, the counter sits at 2,602, so only time will tell.
