Sony generated headlines again today by hosting a 12-hour live stream event for "H1Z1." The live stream featured a new trailer, highlighted additional gameplay, and some good old-fashioned zombie action from the perspective of the developers.
“H1Z1” is a free-to-play MMO/zombie survival game that throws players in the aftermath of the outbreak of H1Z1, a virus that created an army of Infected. You need to find a way to live around the Infected, resource scarcity, wild animals, and the driving need to survive at any cost from other survivors.
The starting zone is intended to resemble “any” town in middle America – normal and familiar – with the ability to explore a world developer J. Smedley wants to see grow. Life in in post-apocolyptic America is terrifying and dangerous, but Smedley wants to convey a sense of hope in his game, as well:
[L]ife can and will go on… even in circumstances as dire as this. Humanity has not given in to the Infected. There are still pockets of humanity and the fight goes on!
The official YouTube channel posted an official gameplay video from yesterday’s live stream, but there are already several roaming around online. Give them a watch and form your own opinions, but it’s hard not to be excited about a fresh take on the now-tired zombie theme.
Sony Online Entertainment just recently added “H1Z1” to its All Access subscription-based service. If you currently subscribe to All Access (and if you subscribe to any game through Sony Online Entertainment, you already do as of yesterday), all you need to do to access the game is to purchase the title on release! The subscription for “H1Z1” is included in All Access.
