My oh my was I surprised this morning when I received this email from 'Tech Support' at One Legged Seagull (developers of "Super Indie Karts"):
This is a moment I've been waiting an eternity for it seems; finally a successor to the PC version of "Mario Kart: Wacky Wheels." (Please disregard the currently in development Wacky Wheels, just kidding Chris!
Though I could hardly wait to activate my key and install the game, I have to say I was ever so slightly disappointed with the end result. I know that they have a very long way to go before this is a release candidate, but the game just doesn't feel right at the moment. Perhaps that is because I'd been playing a lot of "Mario Kart 8" on the Wii U, maybe it's because I've hyped this game up so much in my head. Either way, something is off and I really hope it all comes together for the release.
Regardless of my personal feelings at this moment, the game is fun to play. If you were a Kickstarter backer you should definitely activate that key you should have received and give it a shot. I am very excited to see how development goes now that we have something to touch feel and play.
"Super Indie Karts" is being developed by One Legged Seagull, and is a spiritual successor to 90's kart racers like "Mario Kart" and "Wacky Wheels." It started life off as "Super World Karts," but quickly shifted gears becoming "Super Indie Karts." It will feature characters from other popular indie game titles like "Fist of Awesome" and "Super Meat Boy". No formal release date has been announced as of this post.
