With the recent news of the Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot, allowing fans to vote in who they'd love to see as downloadable fighters, "Super Meat Boy" developer Team Meat and Head of Xbox Phil Spencer have stated that they would love to see their characters in "Super Smash Bros." for Wii U/3DS.
Team Meat shared a mock picture on Twitter of the titular Meat Boy next to Mega Man, saying, "This would be pretty amazing... make it happen. Go vote!!" In a similar fashion, Phil Spencer posted to Twitter in regards to Banjo-Kazooie appearing in "Super Smash Bros." He stated, "I think it would be cool if Banjo was in the next SSB DLC. We've worked with Nintendo on Rare IP before, no issues."
Nintendo stated that any character can be voted in, regardless of first/second/third-party status. If Meat Boy and/or Banjo-Kazooie were to get in as DLC, they would follow Solid Snake, Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac-Man as third-party characters. You can find the Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot in the link.
