Today marks the beginning of the 10th anniversary celebration for "World of Warcraft." If you log on during the event you will be rewarded with a Feats of Strength Achievement and new Battle Pet: a Molten Corgi.
This goes right along with the other extras that Blizzard has released for the birthday bash, including the classic 40-man Molten Core raid (Get it? Molten Cor...gi?) for level 100 players with iLevel 615. Defeating Ragnaros will guarantee you a Core Hound mount and a helm comparable to the quality of gear players earn from using the "Warlords of Draenor" Raid Finder.
The birthday also brings back the feeling of early WoW PvP with a new, temporary battleground: Tarren Mill vs. Southshore. Winning the Team Deathmatch-style BG will reward you with shiny new titles: “Tarren Mill Terror” for Alliance players or “Southshore Slayer” for Horde.
The writers at Kotaku gathered some images from Vanilla- and Alpha-test World of Warcraft. They show them side-by-side with their current versions. It’s pretty neat to look back in time like that, and it really makes us appreciate the graphics we have today.
"World of Warcraft’s" actual birthday is Nov. 23, but the celebration will run from Nov. 21 through Jan. 6.
So ... six weeks and three days. *shrug*
Happy Birthday, "WoW!"
