When you think of console LANs, you think of four people gripping their controllers surrounding the TV in an attempt to back one another up or destroy each other. At least, I do. Today, Microsoft released that the Xbox One will be doubling that number with eight-controller support.
The Xbox website revealed the ability to “connect up to 8 Wireless Controllers at once to your console” as a new feature for the next-generation device. In the past, supporting more than four controllers would have been difficult, particularly for situations where wires were needed to connect them. However, wireless technology makes the four-person limit more arbitrary.
The Xbox One bundles one commemorative controller, among other hardware. Additional Xbox One Wireless Controllers retail at $59.99.
